Federal authorities have charged Zyaire Wilkins in connection with a malware scheme that targeted cryptocurrency holders through infected video games. According to the FBI, Wilkins allegedly procured malicious software concealed within video games, which spread to roughly 8,000 devices. The malware enabled unauthorized access to at least 80 crypto wallets, resulting in the theft of approximately $220,000 in digital assets. The case highlights ongoing security risks tied to downloading games and software from untrusted sources, where hidden code can compromise devices and drain connected wallets. Malware distributed through gaming platforms and modified files has become a recurring vector for crypto theft, as attackers exploit users who may not scrutinize downloads. The arrest reflects continued law enforcement efforts to pursue individuals accused of using technical tools to steal cryptocurrency from unsuspecting victims across multiple compromised systems.
