Luxembourg's financial regulator, the CSSF, granted Ripple preliminary approval as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider on June 23 through a so-called 'Green Light Letter.' The company is combining this step with the Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license it finalized in the same jurisdiction in February. Together, the two approvals position Ripple within MiCA's regulatory framework, the European Union's comprehensive rulebook for crypto assets. However, the Green Light Letter does not constitute a full operating license. Ripple must still satisfy additional requirements and complete further regulatory steps before it can fully operate as a CASP across the EU. The preliminary nod signals progress in Ripple's European expansion strategy, but the company faces remaining conditions to demonstrate compliance. The outcome will determine the scope of services Ripple can offer to customers throughout the bloc under the unified MiCA regime.
